Q) Hi paym,Iam from india and very confused ,need your advice .I have done a pgdnhe after completing a bsc in zoologyand chemistry.Please tell me what to do next. I need to work and earn but need a good enough education first .I have a 10 yr old son and no money ,house or saving.What should I do next so that i can stand up for myself and do all the above things.Thankyou
More Education Not Always the Best Route
A) Why do you feel you need more education? You have a degree after your BSc. Your job is to now start looking for work. From the sounds of your letter, you have some interest in science and health -- so inquire about jobs in those areas. If you need more training for a particular job, then take that specific training. For example, Dental Hygienists are in high demand, but you must go to a trade school or college to become certified. As you have a chemistry degree, consider contacting medical and/or pharmaceutical companies to work as an assistant researcher. There's also becoming a Pharmacy Technician -- again, you would need specific training to become certified. Try approaching pharmacies to see if you can work in one while taking courses to be certified.
Need to be Financially Responsible - Find Work Now
No one can tell you what to do, you need to decide for yourself what is best. But you do need to be financially responsible, which means you should start looking for work now. With a son to look after, you need to be able to provide for him as well. Further education is great and a wonderful goal, but not a reasonable solution right now for you, unless you already know the job you want and get specific education to that industry. To be independent means you need to start working. Even with more education, you will still have to start at the bottom somewhere -- so it is in your best interest to start now rather than later.
