Marshawn Evans on S.K.I.R.T.S. in the BoardroomA Woman's Survival Guide to Success in Business and Life
From the successful contender on Trump's Apprentice program, Marshawn Evans' book "SKIRTS in the Boardroom" shows women (and men) how to get, keep and use executive power
She's been there, and done it. Marshawn Evans now invites you to learn how to keep your confidence, power AND feminine side while still dealing with high powered and high energy business. S.K.I.R.T.S.You may remember Marshawn Evans as a powerful participant in Donald Trump's The Apprentice program. The vitality and energy that landed her in that enviable position is transferred into her book S.K.I.R.T.S. in the Boardroom. Evans pulls no bones – the boardroom means power. More importantly though, is that she shatters any remaining myths that women tear each other apart to get ahead. This is the 21st Century, and the executive, powerful business world is no longer the realm only of men, or stereotyped women. There IS a sisterhood – and women can either be part or be left behind. Basically, S.K.I.R.T.S. is an acronym for Sisterhood, Knowledge, Integrity, Respect, Tenacity, Substance. It's also a recipe for living life to your fullest. Divided into appropriate chapters, Evans delves into each of the properties of S.K.I.R.T.S. and how it applies to both the working executive world as well as personal goals within life. Each tip is backed up with personal experience and anecdotal information, which makes for interesting reading. Her writing style is breezy, easy to read and comprehend; and just like the wind, sometimes your face/mind is struck full force with her thoughts/interpretations/guidance. Each chapter also provides you with written exercises to help you focus on yourself and your specific areas - such as what's your current brand, and how to change it if necessary/wanted. After S.K.I.R.T.S.This is not just a "how-to" or "how-I-did-it-you-can to" book. Evans clearly points out how only YOU can gain the confidence needed to not just survive but be successful in the executive boardroom; you cannot depend nor expect it from your superiors. You can however, demand mutual respect. YOU know your abilities; no one can ever take that away unless you allow them to – so don't fall into the 20th century trap of allowing that to happen – in anything you do. However, Evans still does not leave you alone to brave this new world. Further resources are provided at the back of the book, as is a quick closing chapter of the next steps. Check out the website S.K.I.R.T.S. in the Boardroom for more information on seminars and other S.K.I.R.T.S. success stories from readers. Bottom LineMale or female, if you're still doing business in the 20th century style, you'd best get into THIS century by reading and applying this book. Reference: Evans, Marshawn.
