Rich Brother, Rich Sister – a ReviewWork-Life Balance Guide by Robert Kiyosaki and Emi Kiyosaki
This latest addition to the "Rich Dad Poor Dad" series packs an eye-opening wallop to the balancing of your work to your life, both spiritually and economic-wise.
If you're looking for another "how to" book filled with exercises, and quick and snappy acronyms, don't bother reading this book. If, however, you have been part of the past few years' economic turmoil, layoffs, unemployment, and any life crisis – read on. Work-Life Balance ThemeThere are no quick fixes in this book, but it is the most eye-opening and soul opening journey that will ultimately help you help yourself. Unlike the other books in the Rich Dad Poor Dad series, this one does not tell you or show you what to do. Instead, it tells of the journey of the brother and sister – each who took a different path to "God, money and happiness" – how each was successful in his or her chosen journey, but how each had to learn of the other path to reach fulfillment and the true attainment of each one's goals. It's the work-life balance theme at its basic level. Robert Kiyosaki is the successful creator and distributor of the Rich Dad Poor Dad series – which has been widely read/acclaimed. His sister, Emi Kiyosaki, turned to Buddhism for her successful journey, becoming one of those in close circle to the reverent Dalai Lama, while spreading peace and love wherever she went. Each fully attained the path so chosen, yet each ended up having to travel the other's path to attain true independence and self-satisfaction. What makes this book so unique is the timing, its truth and its passionate message. When you've just been laid off and your self-attainment has mostly been defined through your work, how can you now find balance or self-assurance without that job or work? Travel the JourneyThe reader travels the journey through the past mistakes and revelations of both brother and sister. This is not a candy-coated journey, and the honesty and pain endured to find the right track for each is detailed for the reader. More importantly though, is that the book does not preach, but shows how to accept responsibility and become accountable - that "the truth will set you free". While it may sound contrite, the personal examples actually show the path. Robert Kiyosaki needs to find his spiritual path - the one where he can still make money but be happy while doing it; the one where he is a success to himself and not just from money earned. Emi Kiyosaki finds herself having to enter the commercial world to earn enough money to pay for medical bills for her physical health. The book traces the lives of each, from early childhood to today, and how each become the person he/she is today. It's not quite divided into his chapter/her chapter, but more divided into themes where each talks about that part of life or theme. The vivid imagery and easy tone makes for light reading; the comprehension and revelations make for some pondering thoughts on yourself. In these economic hard times, the book shines as a beacon lighting the way for each. Each person must find his/her own path, but the uplifting tone and overall optimism is a welcome respite from all the nay-sayers with their doom and gloom attitude. You truly are what you feel – this book will help raise your spirits, your attitude and your dedication to yourself. Reference: Kiyosaki, Robert and Kiyosaki, Emi. Rich Brother, Rich Sister.
