Finding yourself somewhat rundown at work? Feeling a bit "off"? Is your work or career suffering from your poor health? Follow these guidelines to ensure a healthy you and a healthy career.
It's winter, and in the northern hemisphere this means you are NOT getting enough sunshine and UV rays. While a terrific option would be to get away to a sunshine climate, that's not always a practical solution. A Golite or UV ray light is a good solution though. Available through the internet (Amazon for one), these UV bulbs definitely provide the necessary rays for optimum winter living.
Eating on the run may save time, but it does set you up for improper nutrition. Take the time to eat properly for your body. For most people this means three proper meals a day; for others it means six smaller meals. Whatever is best for your body (and you will probably do something in between the suggested menu) - just ensure you include protein, complex carbs, fruits, veggies, and of course, the simple carbs (this includes your cakes) as a treat. Your brain needs appropriate nutriments or it won't be able to perform when you need it to! As well, you'll feel draggy and sluggish all day without proper nutrition.
Supposedly, if you are eating properly, you're getting your proper vitamins. In our hectic lifestyle though, it's always a good idea to be preventative. So take a multiple vitamin for your age and lifestyle. Don't forget Vitamin C - it's water soluble (so it's doubtful you'll overdose on it) and will help prevent colds as well as help you get over them. Careful though - too much and you can get diarrhea - this is not a problem, but obviously unpleasant to go through.
Our society has a tendency to put down the need for sleep - just check out how we treat medical interns who must not just stay awake for long periods of time, but must perform AND deal with emergency patients. Do you really want to be one of those patients being seen by a sleep-deprived intern to figure out your cause and cure? Anyway - sleep is a must for optimum performance of both body and brain. And each person has a different requirement for sleep. Do you know yours? Are you getting enough sleep? Try going to bed at an earlier time, and try to skip TV before going to bed. Often the emotional drama or even the news gets the body pumping and makes it difficult to fall asleep.
If you are having trouble sleeping, check with your doctor for a possible mild prescription to help you in the short term.
Your health IS your career - remember, if you don't have your health, you won't be any good at your career. So take care of yourself, so you can take care of your career!
