I hate the word "resolutions" when used with New Year. Used this way, "resolutions" is only a set up for failure. How many times do others ask you what your New Year's Resolutions are? To lose weight? Be more assertive? Find a new job?
NONE of those should be resolutions, but GOALS. The difference? You plan for goals - break them down into manageable steps WITH timelines. Goals are forever - they change as you change, but they are always your goals. Resolutions are what others tell you to do, and are as fickle as the next greatest diet or way to lose weight/gain muscle.
So forget resolutions. Plan for your future - be it in your career or your personal life. Want to lose weight? What you really need to do is get in better shape for YOU. So plan on trying to go for a walk in the evening - even better, plan on going with a loved one or a friend - that way you'll get fit AND get good company to talk to - that's a walk for your soul!
Unhappy at work? What would you like to do? Read Planning Your Career Development for some insight and how to get there from here!
Just remember to do it for YOU. And forget the New Year deadline - goals are continual, not just for the year. Live your life on a continual basis - FOR life!
