So much advice, so little time. How can you decide what to go with?
There is so much advice out there - from experts who actually work with employers and employees, to the individual who has experience, and of course your Aunt Bertha who always has all the answers.
So who should you believe?
Easy - who has the proven experience in the area you are trying to find work. You wouldn't go to a Dentist when your foot is hurt, but s/he does have a medical degree. Same thing here. And just like your Doctor will refer you to someone when you need a specialist, I'll do the same here. I have not worked in the Acting Industry (as an actor), so can only point you in the right direction. And when you read the Contributing Writers - check out their profile. Some offer excellent, proven advice: some don't. Just check to see if they really are working in the field of helping people get hired.
Even when the credentials add up; the advice may not. YOU are an individual - and your Resume should reflect this. If you are not comfortable with what you hear, don't use it. Just because someone said "this is the way to go" doesn't mean it's the way you should go. Advice means just that - some information to help guide you.
Chances are though, if you hear the same advice many times (ie - use action words in your Resume to describe your work) - then you should go with it. It is proven.
